India Broadband Forum

Broadband is a term in the internet which is an internet connection high-speed data transmission. There are two types of common broadband, DSL and the cable modem, which can transfer a 512 kbps or more, about 9 times faster than modems that use standard telephone cable.

Broadband internet access into the market growing rapidly in many fields in the early 2000s, one study found that use of the Internet Broadband Internet access in the United States grew from 6% in June 2000 to almost 30% in 2003. [1]

Some modern implementations of broadband has reached 20 Mbit / s, several hundred times faster than existing at the beginning of the internet and costs are much cheaper; even then the cost and performance varies in different countries.

Countries with the highest penetration of Broadband Internet access usage in the world is South Korea, where 23.17% (as of December 2003) people use this type of connection

Description:
Often called upon to broadband high-speed internet, because it usually has a data flow velocity is high. Generally, the relationship to customers with speed 256 kbit / s (0.256 Mbit / d) or more is considered broadband Internet. International Telecommunication Union Standardization Sector (ITU-T) recommendation I.113 defines broadband as a transmission capacity that is faster than primary rate ISDN at 1.5 to 2 Mbit / d. FCC broadband definition of approximately 200 kbit / s in one direction, and advanced broadband least 200 kbit / s in both directions. OECD defines broadband as 256 kbit / s in at least one direction and the speed is the most accepted worldwide.

In practice, the advertised route is not always available to customers; ISPs often have a number of customers for more than a relationship that can be handled, assuming that all customers are not using the Internet to its full capacity at the same time. This strategy is acceptable, but with the development system of peer to peer file sharing, often create problems for ISPs who have more customers than the capacity of their equipment.

Because of bandwidth provided to customers continues to increase, the market can expect that video on demand services can be delivered through the Internet will become increasingly popular, although it currently still requires that service specific networks. The speed of data in most broadband services are still not sufficient to provide good quality video, as MPEG-2 still needs 6 Mbit / s for good results. MPEG-4 format delivers high-quality video at 2 Mbit / s, toward the end of the cable capacity and ADSL modem today. Ogg Tarkin format is expected to deliver performance setanding.
